Red Bull’s Dynamic Duo: Horner Confirms Pérez and Verstappen Until 2024, Shuts Down Hamilton Rumors!
Christian Horner has a clear vision for Red Bull’s driver lineup at least until 2024: Sergio Pérez and Max Verstappen.terview with Sky Sports, the head of the Austrian team emphasized his satisfaction with the current drivers and supported the continuity of Checo, who has a contract until next year.
“We are very happy with the drivers we have; they are committed as a pair not only for this season but also for the next,” he mentioned to the Italian television network.
In doing so, Christian Horner puts to rest the hypothesis of hiring Lewis Hamilton: “I can’t see where he would fit in the team; we are happy with the current lineup,” he insisted.
Adding that “what Lewis Hamilton has achieved in Formula 1 is unsurpassed, but I can’t see where we could accommodate him. I’m sure Mercedes will sort out their problems, so we won’t write them off just yet this season.”
This is not the first time the British driver has been linked with the energy drink team, which was one of the possibilities a decade ago before signing with Mercedes.
Christian Horner previously admitted he was eager to join Red Bull between 2010 and 2013 when the team was winning titles with Sebastian Vettel.
And although the British executive had some talks with Hamilton, they never made any progress, and it would have been difficult to deal with the pair alongside Vettel, who was the number one driver at the time: “The truth is, it wouldn’t have made sense to hire him.”
In the end, Lewis Hamilton left McLaren to make history with Mercedes, where he has won six Formula 1 titles, adding to the one he had achieved in Woking.
Currently, the British driver is going through a crisis with the Silver Arrows’ car, and his future is uncertain as his contract expires this year.
